Hey everyone! Today we want to share a little story about our very first game. It wasn’t meant to be a big project, nor did we even give it a proper name—but looking back, it was an incredible experience that shaped us as game developers.
A Simple Idea, A Big Learning Experience
The game itself was a straightforward third-person stealth experience. Players took on the role of a predator armed with nothing but a small blade, stalking through an open forest. Their mission? To eliminate the remaining soldiers sent to investigate a mysterious disturbance. The catch? The soldiers were equipped with M4A4 rifles, giving them a clear advantage in ranged combat.
Despite its simplicity, the game provided plenty of fun moments, strategic gameplay, and tense encounters. Initially, we built it just to play around and show off to friends—it was never intended for publicity. However, through the process, we learned so much about game design, mechanics, and what makes a game truly enjoyable.
Cloak, Strategize, Strike
For those who mastered stealth, there was a satisfying bonus: attacking an enemy from behind resulted in a one-hit kill. This encouraged players to be patient, strategic, and precise—because getting caught meant facing an enemy who could easily take you down with their gun.
Built with Passion (And a Lot of Free Assets!)
We created the entire game in Unreal Engine 4 over the span of just two weeks. Most of the assets came from Epic Games' free collection, while our enemy characters were sourced from Mixamo. Despite using mostly pre-made assets, we focused heavily on designing gameplay mechanics, balancing difficulty, and refining the experience. We even added sound effects, visual effects, and a simple win condition: once all enemies were eliminated, a message box would appear declaring victory. Nothing fancy, but it got the job done!
The Reception – and Why It Meant So Much to Us
Looking Ahead
This first project sparked our passion for game development and gave us the motivation to keep going. We learned that, at its core, making games isn't just about code, mechanics, or graphics—it’s about building an experience that players will remember.
With that in mind, we’re excited to keep growing, experimenting, and pushing ourselves to create even better experiences in the future. This was just the beginning, and we can’t wait to share what’s next.
Stay tuned, and thanks for being part of our journey!
