Starting something from scratch is never easy, especially when you don’t have the best tools or resources at your disposal. Today, we want to share our journey with you—the ups, the downs, and how we built Cryorbis Studio from humble beginnings. We hope this inspires those of you who are just starting your own path.
The First Step: A Willingness to Improve
We believe that the drive to improve is the key to making real change happen. Your current situation—whether it's financial limitations, lack of support, or technical struggles—shouldn’t be seen as a roadblock but rather as motivation to keep moving forward. The real strength comes from pushing past those limitations, not from having the perfect setup from the start. Success shouldn’t be measured by money alone but by the value you bring to others. When your passion is fueled by a desire to create something meaningful, discipline and perseverance naturally follow.
Starting With Almost Nothing
Like many self-taught developers, we didn’t start with high-end gaming PCs, expensive courses, or a financial cushion to fall back on. We came from an average background where every expense had to be carefully considered. We had a dream, but we also had to be realistic. Despite the odds, we decided to take the leap and begin our journey with whatever we had.
But not everyone believed in us. In fact, most people didn’t. We heard all kinds of discouraging remarks:
“You will fail.”
“It’s going to be tough.”
“You? You want to make games?”
“That must be a joke.”
“You dream too much.”
“It looks so bad.”
At times, the doubt from others was overwhelming, but we realized something important—we couldn't change people’s opinions until they saw results. Instead of letting negativity hold us back, we decided to let our progress be the response. Because as the saying goes, the best revenge is success.
The Struggle: Learning With Limited Resources
Our first piece of equipment was a small laptop, and to be honest, it wasn’t even mid-tier. It didn’t have gaming-level hardware, but it barely met the minimum requirements to run Unreal Engine 4. We had to turn down every setting to the lowest just to make it work. Lag, crashes, and frustration were constant companions. It wasn’t ideal, but it was enough to get us started.
We didn’t let the limitations stop us because, at the end of the day, it wasn’t about the hardware—it was about the vision. We wanted to tell a story through our game, one that would stick in people’s hearts. We knew it wouldn’t be easy, but we also knew that the end result would be worth it.
Gaining Support and Upgrading Our Gear
As we kept pushing forward, something amazing happened—people started to notice our progress. The same individuals who once doubted us began to see the potential in our work. Some even began asking for advice, seeing us as a source of guidance.
Success, we realized, isn’t a final destination. It’s an ongoing, unpredictable journey. But as we kept moving forward, we finally received some support and were able to invest in better hardware. Today, we’re using a gaming laptop with an NVIDIA RTX 3050 and an Intel Core i5 processor. It’s not the most powerful setup, but it’s a huge improvement from where we started. And most importantly, it allows us to continue creating, learning, and improving.
The Journey Never Ends
Looking back, it’s clear that the tools we use don’t define us—our determination does. You don’t need the best gear to start; you just need the will to keep going.
If you’re at the beginning of your own journey, don’t let your current situation discourage you. Use what you have, improve where you can, and never stop learning. The road ahead may not be easy, but if you stay committed to your vision, you’ll get further than you ever imagined.
This is just the beginning for us at Cryorbis Studio, and we can’t wait to see where the journey takes us next.
